Organic results in LA and surrounding areas are largely dominated by national players with a huge presence across the country. They invest significant marketing dollars into making their websites high authority, with active backlinking and high Domain Ratings.

When we first took on this client, there had been no SEO work done on the website. No SEO, no traffic. We were starting off fresh and there was a lot of work to be done.

The client had a very limited number of Bitcoin ATM machines across LA and Orange County, with a limited monthly budget to spend on SEO.

The solution:

Razor-sharp budgeting

In order to outrank our national competitors, we developed a strategy to efficiently use every dollar of our budget. We did this with a mix of high-quality industry backlinks, local citations and data aggregators. Pages were also optimized for local SEO with high quality content so they would rank higher.

Using national SEO to fuel local landing pages

We wanted to rank resource and content pages for national Bitcoin search terms, but also use them as supporting content to fuel our local landing pages. To achieve this, we linked up each of their local Bitcoin ATMs to a Google My Business listing to achieve better visibility. At the same time, we were able to use the supporting content to further boost the local landing pages in the SERPs.

A better way to index and increase ranking

Instead of creating pages under the blog, we added them into the main navigation menu under ‘Resources’ for better indexing. With each page of content, we casted a wide net and tried to rank each page for as many related search queries as possible.

We wanted to help our client maximize their local traffic from audiences in the LA region looking for a bitcoin ATM. We also wanted to help them increase their local visibility and overall traffic to the website.

Uncovering site issues and search intent

There are many factors that can affect the ranking of a page, and so we addressed them all, one by one. First, we performed a detailed technical SEO audit to identify and fix problems the site had that would prevent it from ranking higher on Google. Then, we performed keyword research to uncover the local search terms people were using to search for Bitcoin ATMs and in-person crypto transactions.

Creating new pages and content

To further boost the chances of ranking, we also created location-specific landing pages for each Bitcoin ATM. Product and local business schema were added to each page for further optimization. We also found opportunities to create longform content in the BTC niche, ensuring new content and location pages were internally linked properly.

The amount of content was increased on both new and existing content pages. Along with optimization on the page, this would make it easier for Google to crawl all of the website pages.

To raise our client’s website Domain Authority, we built high quality backlinks and local citations to increase trust signals to the Google search algorithm.

Enticing website visitors to stay

The design of a webpage is important as well in ranking, so we added conversion design elements to each location page. This would increase time spent on page and conversion rates. These changes also decrease bounce rates, meaning a higher chance the user will spend time learning more about the client’s services.

We’re currently 6 months into the campaign, with the site continuing to perform very well and increasing its search visibility. Our approach has proven to be highly effective, with a combination of new content creation, on-site optimization and link building. This has resulted in an increase in rankings, traffic and revenue for our client.
